UNITING THE CARIBBEAN DIASPORA OF TEXAS
General Information
The Caribbean Association of Texas (CAT) is a 501(c)(7) organization, which serves the Caribbean community in Texas. Every year we host a number of events and the proceeds are used to give back to the community.
The Caribbean Association of Texas(CAT) was established in 1999 by six members from the Caribbean who realized a need to preserve and share the Caribbean culture in Texas. The founding board members included Wendell and Lauren Rosales, Suzan Cameron, Steve Jackman, Greg Jackman, and Evitte Estrada. Through its humble beginnings, CAT has increased its membership and reached out to other Caribbean organizations, such as the Dallas West Indian United, The Panamanian Association of Dallas, and several college campus groups, with the objective of promoting and hosting family and fundraising events to benefit our Caribbean youth.
To keep the spirit of the Caribbean culture alive by bringing together the various countries that collectively make up the Caribbean, and sharing its uniqueness with others through education, cultural activities and entertainment.
To support and enhance our collective Caribbean communities through outreach programs and charities and to create an awareness among our younger generation to continue the promotion and development of the Association.

CAT strongly believes in giving back to our Caribbean countries and every year we launch a fundraising campaign to benefit a needy organization in one of the islands. In 2013, we funded fire extinguishers for a primary school in Trinidad and in 2014, we are funding the Lions club of Durban, Guyana to assist in after school lessons and nutrition meals.
